In 2007, a group of miniature horse enthusiasts that enjoyed driving in a drill team, decided to create a performance group to promote the American Miniature Horse and entertain audiences of all ages. We obtained our status of being a 501c3 non – profit organization and also filed with the Arizona Corporation Commission – thus The Arizona Mini Mystique was born!
Our purpose is:
To perform and entertain through drill team performances, parades, appearances at events for special needs (adults and children), community service and special interest groups.
To participate in visitations to hospitals, assisted living care centers, schools and libraries.
To support miniature horse rescue, and the prevention of equine cruelty, through donations to worthy charitable equine organizations, as well as being foster homes for miniature horses.
Our members range in age from 30 – 80 years old. We come from all walks of life: Teachers, nurses, welders, child care, groomers, sales and utilities.
Our practice site is located in Desert Hills, AZ (north Phoenix) at Ron & JoAnne Souza’s TLC Miniature Horse Farm – a dedicated driving facility.
We practice a couple of times a month - from fall to spring (summers are too hot). If we have a special event coming up, we practice our specific program more often. We have different programs for teams of 6, 8, 10, and 12 performers that range from 5 – 15 minutes in length.
We often have Potluck Lunches while we review our performances, create new maneuvers, check out new music and discuss costumes and decorations.
We have fundraising activities throughout the year to help pay for our club insurance, costumes and travel expenses. Some of our favorites are:
